Who is Dr. Dom?
I have two decades of experience supporting people through anxiety, stress, and identity development as a mindfulness-based CBT coach, and I always appreciate the opportunity to be of help to others. My book, Breathe in Calm, offers mindful tools for coping with anxiety and other mood challenges.
I hold both a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Child Development and a PhD respecialization in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University (Bay Area).
To support LGBTQ+ clients to cope with issues of identity, self-acceptance, social stigmatization, and family relationships, I completed specialized training at UCSF’s Alliance Health Project. I also have specialized training working with young adult clients through my internship at Utah Tech University, though in my current practice I enjoy providing support to adults of all ages (16+).
I am a strong believer in somatic-based and mindfulness-based approaches, drawing from two decades of teaching yoga and mindfulness meditation.
My former work a professor of neuropsychology at Columbia University, where I conducted cognitive neuroscience research on aging and gender, instilled in me a deep commitment to using therapeutic techniques based on strong research evidence.
More personally, I’m a nature boy at heart and love my daily hikes in the redwoods. I also enjoy yoga and dance (former ballroom dance instructor and current Zumba affectionado). My life is greatly enhanced by my husband and our sweet labradoodle, Ellie.
